Why is research important in the media industry?
Before you make a product?
During production?
After production?
Case study
Describe all types of reserach you whouild do if you worked for a company that wanted to come up with an idea for a new vidieo game.
I am currently working in a games company and they have asked me to make a new game for people, they have aske me to make it good and also to make it sell loads this is what i whouild need to do when making the game. First i wouild conduct primary research to find out want type of game people like to play in order to do this i whouild make a Questionairre and then the people can fill it in then off what they about what type of game hey like then i we wouild make hat type of game. We whouild want to know what genre they like so we know what game to make. Secondly we whouild need to use secondry research to find out what type of games areout their now so we know what we are going to go up agaisint.
During production we whouild need to make sure that the game is right that their are no mistakes in the game, no gliches make sure that the game is perfect for the audience when they play it. Also during the production we whouild need to make sure that everything is going well also with te secondry research we whouild find out what other perople thought about games we need to see if they said that the games were good. But if they hated it then we whouild not sell the game becuse we whouild not get any sales. Then the game whouild have a big affect on us.
After the production we whouild then get into a focus group with lots of people and we whouild then show them the game and then we whouild want feedback off them to see if everything is good or if there still needs to be a little bit more work on it if they say that everything is going well then we whouild then put it on the market an sell it but we whouild have to be careful becuse of the competitors who are going up agaisnt us becuse for example if they were going up agaisnt us and tey sold more then us we whouild have to sell more. A the end of all of it we whouild use Quantitative research to see how many people bought the game, how many of game that we made was sold in order to do that we whouild use a forum a forum is a table with a list of games that have been sold or that are the best that why we whouild use Quantitative research. We whouild also use Qualititive research aswell becuse we whouild ask the audience questions saying that did you like te game, did you enjoy playing, did you not. In order to us to find out what people said about our game we whouild look on the internet and find out what people said about are game.

Qualiative research
Qualititive research is where it produces information about peoples opians, facts and prefrances. It is very important within the media becuse they wants to know if say they were bringing a new film out they whouild want to find out about their opians about the film if they like or they dont like it. It is also used to find out what individuals and also groups think and also feel about a particular media product.
This is an example of a Qualititive research becusxe this shows peoples movie reviews of movies that have been out and wached.
Quantitative research
Quantitative research is research that does produce data and also information that can count and mesure also it is good for the media so they need to know how there going agaisnt their competitors and how many they have sold also it can be produced on tables, charts and diagrams, quantitative research also includes primary and secondry research techniques aswell.
This is an example of Quantiativie research becuse this shows the number of people who have bought the newspapers. this is good becuse it is accurate and clear. the bad thing about it it dosent tell us people opians just the number of people who buy it.

scondary research
Secondary research
Secondary research is research that has been done by someone else by Internet or in books or in encyclopedia also magazines.
Advantages of secondary research
Easy to access
Books can be used to find out stuff that people have said
Online access to the Internet
Less expensive
It is also free
Industry magazines
Disadvantages of secondary research
The information may not be correct
Secondary research can be vague and may not really help companies.
The data may be old or also out of date.
The company that is publishing the data may not be replete.
This is an example of TV magazines this is good because it shows how many magazines have been sold but the bad thing about it is that it doesn't tell us why people bought the magazines.

Introduction
In this blog i will describe the main types, methods and
sources of research that can be used in a research project and the main
purposes of research in the creative media industries.
I will cover the following;
·
Primary Research
·
Secondary Research
·
Qualitative Research
·
Quantitative Research
Primary resaerch
Primary research
Primary research is basically an original of collected data, primary research is often undertaken after the researcher has gained some of the insight into the issue by reviewing the secondary data or the primary data. Also primary research is original also it has a specific purpose to find out the particular information.
Examples of primary research are for example Questionnaires, they are useful for primary research because they are used for people to answer questionnaires about what they like, or whats your favourite game or whats your favourite music.
Focus groups, this is when an individual gets a group of people to sit around a table and discuss about maybe a new film that's coming out or if a new game is to be released are the graphics good are they not.
Interviews are basically phone interviews where people can speak on the phone about the things that are asked but the bad thing about phone interviews is that they cost a lot of money because how much minutes that you have also you can do face to face which is better because then you no that the person is not lying and also you can see the persons facial expressions.
